Uasin Gishu County Executive Committee Member for Roads, Transport and Public Works Eng. Joseph Lagat has urged County drivers not to work beyond the government-stipulated time unless they have written permission.

Speaking on Monday, March 6, 2023, at the County Yard during a meeting with Drivers, Mechanics and Operators, the CECM said the stipulated time for government vehicles is from 8 am to 5 pm daily and drivers will be required to park vehicles in their custody at the Yard for safety reasons.

Only vehicles offering essential services will be allowed to operate beyond 5 pm, any other vehicle travelling beyond that time should have permission from transport officers. We won’t be responsible for any driver found violating the regulations,” noted CECM Eng. Lagat.

He asked them not to allow unauthorised to operate county vehicles and adhere to the regulations to avoid being penalised by the Check unit officers.

Engineer Lagat further urged the drivers to always obey traffic rules, avoid alcohol and drug abuse, and use the machines and equipment available well to reduce losses incurred on maintenance.

The CECM also said the county will increase the capacity of fuel storage at the Yard to solve the challenges of shortages.

We have listened to your challenges and we pledge to address them progressively. There will be more training programs for all of you to equip you with skills on new trends especially in technology and operation of new machines in the market to enhance service delivery,” added Eng. Lagat.

Meanwhile, Chief officer Roads Eng. Julius Ronoh thanked the CECM for moving swiftly to ensure suppliers and other service providers have been paid on time for efficiency.
