The County Government of Uasin Gishu has launched another significant water project as part of its ongoing commitment to ensure access to clean water for all.
The initiative, which is aligned with the leadership’s manifesto on water, is being financed through the Financing Locally-Led Climate Action Program (FLLOCA) and aims to provide clean water solutions to the community of Koibarak Primary School in Kapsoya Ward, Ainabkoi Sub-County.
The project, celebrated by the school’s Board of Management, is set to improve the school’s water infrastructure with the installation of a solar-powered system, alongside the construction of an underground water tank and an elevated steel tank tower.
These developments will not only ensure that the students at Koibarak Primary have consistent access to potable water but will also extend access to the surrounding community through the establishment of three additional water points in the area.
Elizabeth Sinyei, the Chairperson of the Board of Management at Koibarak Primary School, expressed her appreciation for the project, highlighting the positive impact it will have on both the school and the broader community.
She emphasized that the provision of clean water would significantly improve hygiene standards for the students, promoting better health and a more conducive learning environment.
Speaking during the launch ceremony, the Climate Change Unit Officer in charge of Ainabkoi Mercy Kemboi, underscored the importance of maintaining the stipulated timelines and ensuring high-quality work as outlined in the Bill of Quantities.
She urged the contractor to adhere strictly to the project specifications, ensuring timely delivery and durability of the facilities.
Beliomo Location Chief Viola Bartocho added that Koibarak Primary School is the only public school in the area, making the project especially crucial.
She noted that the availability of clean water would not only benefit the school’s students but also serve as an incentive for local parents to prioritize hygiene, fostering a healthier and more sustainable environment for all.
The launch of this water project is a testament to the Governor’s continued efforts to address climate change challenges while improving the livelihoods of its residents through nguzo number 7.
As the project progresses, it is expected to provide lasting solutions to water scarcity issues, ensuring that residents in Ainabkoi Sub-County have reliable access to clean water for years to come.
