Uasin Gishu: Impact of Improved Rural Accessibility on Agricultural Production Under Governor Bii

The County Government of Uasin Gishu has completed a remarkable 2,100 kilometers of road grading in the past two years under the leadership of Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii.

This is part of the governor’s commitment on infrastructure development aimed at improving roads in a strategic bid to stimulate growth in the agriculture sector.

Speaking during a development tour in Kesses Sub-County, Dr Bii affirmed his administration’s dedication to improve accessibility of rural areas.

While in Kesses, the county boss also commissioned the recently completed Kipkorosio-Chemare road in Chagaiya Tarakwa ward.

My administration is focused on road infrastructure, which serves as the backbone of rural and urban transport systems. Over the past two years, we have made significant strides to ensure the efficient supply of agricultural inputs and the swift transport of farm produce to market,” he stated.

County Executive for Roads, Eng. Joseph Lagat said the enhancement road networks in the rural areas was already yielding positive results.

Lagat noted that with reduced transport costs, farmers in rural areas now have greater access to larger markets, which has contributed to increased crop yields and boosted local agricultural production.
