To achieve growth that is not only high but also inclusive, the Uasin Gishu County government is implementing road projects like never before.

Opening of new roads and maintaining existing ones by Governor Dr Jonathan Bii-led administration in Kiplombe ward has been termed by residents as a key factor in spurring economic activities and unlocking opportunities.

On Friday, Roads Chief Officer Eng Abraham Kiptalam inspected several ongoing and completed road improvement projects in Kapchumba and Baharini police post areas.

One of the residents in the Baharini area Margret Atieno who is a widow said she lost her husband some years back due to the challenges of a dilapidated road that led to the delay in arriving at the hospital.

I lost my husband because of the lack of a well-maintained road, I understand the importance of having good roads. I have lived here for many years and whoever improved our road means a lot to me and I thank Governor Bii so much,” she explained.

Other residents from Kapchumba and around Baharini Police Post led by Daniel Kiplagat Suge, Mary Kariba and Simon Chumba said they have lived in the area for over 20 years but had never experienced such intense road improvement program that is now opening up their area for development.

The county has set a target of improving over 1,200 new roads in the current financial year.
