Uasin Gishu Governor Dr Jonathan Bii’s administration continues to take bold steps to open up and grow the economy by rolling out robust initiatives through the department of Infrastructural development to ease movement of goods and services from one point to the other.
These initiatives, spearheaded by the county boss as envisioned in his development agenda number 6 on infrastructure development, enumerates measures to be taken to create resilient and reliable infrastructure to grow the economy.
Where will Uasin Gishu Asphalt Plant be constructed?
It is in this regard that on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, the County Executive Member for Roads, Transport and Public Works held a consultative meeting with a team from Public Works and other stakeholders on the effective ways to establish an Asphalt Processing Plant at Baharini area.

“This plant will not only help us enhance the effectiveness in construction of infrastructure projects by producing the asphalt mixtures essential for building and maintaining roads and other paved surfaces at an affordable price but also stimulate local economic activities,” he explained.
Later, the team toured the ground to assess the location for construction of the plant and allied structures.
Chief Officer for roads, Geoffrey Tanui disclosed that the construction is set to commence in a week’s time and upon completion will provide myriad of employment opportunities in plant operations, construction and maintenance.

Area chief William Koros said they have ensured the location is protected from encroachment and are optimistic that the project will be successful.
Director Public Works Eng Benjamin Kirongo noted that his team was keen to ensure everything is done within the stipulated timelines and that his team has already completed the designs for the project.
