Members of the Uasin Gihu County Assembly on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, passed a motion urging the Department of Roads, Transport and Public Works to ensure loading and offloading of cargo trucks is done in the back streets and other convenient places.

Kapseret/Simat MCA Moses Kebenei while moving the motion lamented that Eldoret town has been experiencing scenarios where trucks were loading and offloading goods along the main streets hence obstructing motorists and pedestrians.

This is despite the existence of the Uasin Gishu County Transport Act, 205, which mandated the County Government to designate and reserve parking spaces for trailers, lorries and trucks carrying cargo within the County or in Transit.
