Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya on January 19, 2023, launched a water project that targets to provide clean water to Namanjalala residents.
Under the project, several boreholes will be drilled, and will serve over 220 households in the area as well as surrounding villages.
While addressing residents during the event, the county chief noted that the Namanjalala area is prone to floods that young girls and women often have to walk long distances to find water as wells are always flooded or collapsed.

He further said the county administration would fund the seven-year project that will produce over 3,000 liters per hour.
Governor Natembeya also said that his government plans to drill 20 boreholes this financial year.
Additionally, 11 boreholes drilled earlier will be equipped with a solar hybrid pumping system, a community water point, pipeline distribution, and a water kiosk.
“The project complements county government’s efforts in achieving the goal of having every homestead connected to water,” said Governor Natembeya.
He also noted that the project is in line with the county government’s vision of ensuring access to drinking water for residents. He said it’s a way of improving hygiene and enhancing agricultural production which plays a critical role in the county’s development agenda.

In her part, Deputy Governor Philomenah Bineah said the county is committed to ensuring that all development projects are carried out as promised.
