Uasin Gishu Sports Teams In Wards Get Ksh 9.8m Playing Equipment

Sports teams across Uasin Gishu are set to benefit from playing equipment, as a way to support continuous training and most importantly, growth of talents.

Speaking on Friday, June 13, 2025, as he flagged off a Ksh 9.8 million worth of assorted sports equipment, Governor Dr Jonathan Bii said the program seeks to empower the youth to achieve their sports dreams.

The Governor said programs like ongoing sports tourneys are engineered to offer platforms for youth to hone and monetize their talents in the long run.

Up to Ksh 1 million is up for grabs at the Governor’s Cup Football Tournament that is being organized to enter the sub-county levels. Dr Bii’s manifesto puts harnessing of sports talents as a tool to empower the youth, as fifth of his ten pillar of development.

Government dpokesman Isaac Mwaura, County Secretary Philip Meli, Sports County Executive Eng Lucy Ng’endo, Chief Of Staff, Dr Pius Chumba, Chief Officer for Youth and Sports CPA Victorine Kapkiai, were among senior government officers who attended the flag off.
