The County Government of Uasin Gishu has affirmed its commitment to assisting residents living in areas prone to flooding.
And amid ongoing heavy rainfall pounding several parts of the county, Engineers from the Department of Roads, Transport and Public Works have started taking measures to open blocked drainage lines in slopes and shallow land.
The move is meant to help channel flooding water to access streams and rivers so as to avert damage to property in residential areas.

On Tuesday, the team of Engineers visited Moi’s Bridge ward to assess the situation and listen to views from residents.
The visit also enabled them to identify sites for improvement.
Improvement works were to kick off a day later.

Uasin Gishu Roads County Executive Eng. Joseph Lagat directed the assessment to be carried out in all affected areas.
This is even as he urged residents who might be affected to feel free to contact the County Government for immediate assistance.
Most parts of the County, just like across the country have been experiencing heavy rainfall for the last few days.

The rains are expected to go on for at least a month, raising possibility of floodings in some areas.
