The County Government of Uasin Gishu will soon start fresh recruitment of casual workers in health facilities.
Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim-led administration a few months ago terminated contracts of all the casual workers in county hospitals.
The move elicited mixed reactions with reports indicating that delivery of health services had been negatively affected.
But according to Governor Bii, termination of contacts for casual workers was part of his government’s restructure.

“When we assumed office, there was a talk of ghost workers in many counties but for us we decided to to a headcount so that we know the number of workers we have,” the governor said on Monday.
“It was during that time that we stopped casual workers as part of the restructuring process,” he added.
The county boss now says they are ready to do fresh recruitment.
He has however assured that those that were already serving in the said positions will be given priority.
“For those whom were stoped from working (the casuals), we’re in the process of doing fresh recruitment because we need services to be done in the best way possible,” Bii said.
“The casuals will be back and we will give priority to those who were there especially the cleaners and watchmen’s,” he added.
Uasin Gishu has 138 County-managed health facilities.
