The County Government of Uasin Gishu has committed to investing in the latest inventory management tools in its pharmacy stores.
This is part of the reforms that Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim’s administration is seeking to introduce in the health sector.
According to the deputy governor Eng. John Barorot, most of the hospitals are still using a manual system of storing records, an issue he says they have prioritized to address within the first 100 days.
“We want to see how we can help facilities get computers for connectivity then analytics and information can be stored digitally,” Eng. Barorot said.

Further, he pointed out that they will be working towards enabling the workforce in the health sector with the current tools especially inventory management in pharmacy stores.
This, the Deputy Governor says, will enable them to forecast what will be used in the health facilities in future.
“Health is our second item on our agenda, it is very high in our hierarchy,” he said.
In the meantime, Eng. Barorot says one or two computers will be able to address issues of inventory management which can be done within the first 100 days.

Once this phase is finalized, the county is planning to work on having connectivity within all its health facilities.
Already Governor Bii has promised to construct modern structures at the Uasin Gishu County Hospital which is expected to be elevated to the County Referral Hospital status.
