West Pokot Governor Simon Kachapin on Saturday officially opened Ortum Mission Hospital footbridge in Ortum, Batei Ward.
The construction of the new elevated modern footbridge at the hospital is set to enhance accessibility in an area that has been constantly affected by flooding.
He said the hospital serves many of the county residents and that the institution would have continued to experience challenges had the interventions had not been implemented.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Rt. Rev. Henry Juma Odonyo, the 2nd Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Kitale.
Deputy Governor Robert Komolle was present.
Area MCA Yusuf Longiro, Kasei MCA Krop Loboo, CEC Public Works Joshua Rutto, his Chief Officer Reuben Lotumale and other senior county employees werep resent.
