In Mbeere North, Embu County, Leo Wa Muthende beat the Democratic Party’s Newton Karish, while David Ndwakwa secured the Malava MP seat after beating Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) candidate Seth Panyako.
In both contests, UDA secured narrow wins against United Opposition candidates.

President Ruto also celebrated the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) candidates who secured a win. The party is part of the broad-based government.
It won Ugunja, Kasipul and Magarini.
How many seats did UDA, ODM win in the November 27 by-elections?
According to President Ruto, UDA and ODM winning in the by-elections is a clear indication that the two parties are bigger and better if united.
“Congratulations David Ndakwa (Malava), Leonard Wamuthende (Mbeere North), Ahmed Hassan (Banisa), Vincent Chemitei (Baringo), Moses Omondi (Ugunja), Harrison Kombe (Magarini), and Boyd Were (Kasipul) for your deserved win!” Ruto posted on his verified Facebook page.
“Your victory is a powerful reminder to us that we are bigger and better as a country when we are united,” the president added.
The by-elections were considered a dress rehearsal for 2027, and the win will likely come as a boost for UDA and ODM.
Of the seven major seats, the two parties won all the seats, with the United Opposition candidates winning only several MCA seats.

President Ruto, speaking during the launch of the Rironi-Mau Summit road dualling, said Kenyans had sent a clear message to the opposition.
“One term, Kasongo is not an agenda, your agenda and ours is as clear as day and night. Mkiendelea na hiyo tutawazamisha asubuhi na mapema,” Ruto said.
