26 Elgeyo Marakwet students who have been in Australia for further studies for the last two years have finally graduated.
The 26 were flagged off in September 2023 under the county’s Pepea Programme.
They recently graduated in various fields from the BPP Institute.
“In September 2023, we flagged off our 26 students to Australia for further studies under our uplift programme, Pepea. I am glad that they have graduated today in various fields from the BPP Institute, Australia,” Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Wisley Rotich said on Friday, November 28, 2025.

Rotich said the student’s dedication and resilience had earned them outstanding accomplishments.
“The unwavering support we’ve received in Australia has been extraordinary, transforming what began as an ambitious vision into a model that is now creating global opportunities for our youth,” the county boss added.
During the graduation, one of the students, Kennedy Kipchumba, received the Academic Excellence Award, which Governor Rotich described as “a moment of pride for all of us”.

“To all the graduates, parents, partners, and the entire BPP family, I extend my heartfelt appreciation. Congratulations once again to the Class of 2025!” he added.
The Pepea programme is Governor Rotich’s brainchild, in which the Elgeyo Marakwet County scouts for opportunities for its youth to fly abroad for further studies.
Selected students are admitted to Australian institutions where they learn on scholarships.
