2022 Placement Results Out: Check Where You Have Been Placed On KUCCPS Portal

Cabinet Secretary for Education, Prof George Magoha on Saturday, June 25, 2022, released the 2022/2023 university and college student placement results.

A total of 250,052 students submitted applications for placement to universities, TVET institutions and Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs), and all applicants have successfully been placed.

Students who sat for the 2021 KCSE examinations and qualified to be placed in a university, TVET, and TTCs applied online via the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) portal.

A summary of the placement numbers is as follows:

• 90 percent of the 2021 KCSE candidates who attained a mean grade of C+ (plus) and above and applied were competitively placed, with 85 percent of them getting Degree programmes and 5 percent taking up courses in TVET Institutions.

• Of the 144,466 Kenyan citizen candidates who qualified for degree programmes, 123,963 (85.8%) were placed to universities (67,237 male and 56,726 female).

• 16,310 candidates who qualified for degree programmes in the 2021 KCSE examination did not submit applications and may have opted to pursue other opportunities.

• 124,258 applicants have been placed in TVET institutions (55,553 male and 68,705 female).

• For the first time, KUCCPS placed applicants for admission to the 32 public diploma primary teacher training colleges.

A total of 1,538 (1,216 female, 322 male) have been placed in Diploma in Primary Teacher Education and Diploma in Early Childhood Teacher Education.

• KUCCPS placed 293 (129 male, 164 female) to three colleges offering Diploma in Secondary Teacher Education, namely: Kagumo, Kibabii and Lugari TTCs. These students will be trained to deliver the CBC curriculum.

“The students who have been placed in the various universities, TVET institutions and TTCs are encouraged to log in to their respective student portals and check the details of their placement,” said KUCCPS.

Successful students are expected to report to their various institutions begining September 2022.
