Youths and women in Tembelio ward have a reason to smile after they received donations of assorted equipment from area Member of County Assembly (MCA) Pius Kigen, in an initiative meant to empower them economically.

Under the program, 29 youth and women groups from the ward benefited from among others; car wash machines, water pumps, incubators, and tents.

Speaking at Koitoror Ward office during an event to officially hand over the equipment, the area MCA expressed optimism that the support will help improve the beneficiaries’ livelihoods.

“We have come to see how to help and improve your livelihoods. Congratulations to all the groups that were selected to benefit from these pieces of equipment,” Kigen said.

The Ward Representative further challenged locals in the area to join/form groups, noting that it is only through them that they can benefit from different government support.

“The government is now working with organized groups – and this is the only way you can get a share of resources here at the grassroots,” Kigen told the locals.

He also thanked the County Government of Uasin Gishu for coming up with initiatives targeting organized groups across the country.
