ABC Bank was on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, recognized during the SFI Catalyst Awards ceremony.
The ceremony was organized by the Kenya Bankers Association.
During the event, ABC Bank won the award for Best Client Case Study โ Commercial (2nd Runners Up).
โThis is our second year participating and second time being awarded. This recognition affirms the Bankโs continued efforts in creating long-term value for our clients, the economy, and the environment,โ the bank said in a statement.
In his keynote remarks, the Nairobi Stock Exchange (NSE) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Geoffrey Odundo highlighted that investors are rapidly migrating toward sustainable investments and are no longer looking at profitability but also other sectors such as sustainability.
He also urged the financial industry players to tap into the Capital Markets for green bonds and impact financing.
In addition, Odundo commended banks for adapting Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) and Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) guidelines on Climate-Related Risk Management.
The Sustainable Finance Initiative (SFI) Catalyst Awards recognizes participating banks that have excelled in their leadership role in adopting and advancing sustainable banking practices across the industry and operationalizing the SFI Guiding Principles.
So far, the SFI programme has overseen the implementation of wide-ranging capacity-building programs and strengthened the industryโs Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) performance.
