ANC Issues Statement on Appointment of Mudavadi as Prime Cabinet Secretary

The Amani National Congress (ANC) party has issued a statement, revealing that it had nominated its leader Musalia for appointment as the Prime Cabinet Secretary.

Prime Cabinet Secretary is a position that Mudavadi was promised to be given under the Kenya Kwanza government.

The position is contained in a coalition agreement that was signed by three founding members of the Kenya Kwanza Coalition – the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), ANC and Ford Kenya.

And in a statement posted on their social media pages, the ANC party said a Council Bureau meeting held on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, unanimously nominated Mudavadi for the position.

Interestingly, the agreement was for Mudavadi and his Ford Kenya counterpart Moses Wetangula to deliver at least 70 per cent of the Luhya community votes to Dr Ruto.

However, only Bungoma county gave a majority of the votes to the President-elect.

But Dr Ruto performed fairly well in the rest of the five western Kenya counties.

Aside from the Prime Cabinet Secretary position, the Kenya Kwanza coalition agreement allocated the Speaker of the National Assembly position to the Bungoma Senator-elect.

At least 30 per cent of the government appointments were also to go to the Western Kenya region under the agreement that was formally deposited to the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP).
