Another opinion poll shows Chris Wamalwa ahead of Natembeya in Trans Nzoia Governor race

Barely a day after TIFA Research released a poll showing DAP-K Trans Nzoia gubernatorial candidate George Natenbeya was ahead of his main rival Ford Kenya’s Chris Wamalwa, another poll has been released showing the contrary.

In the TIFA poll, the former Rift Valley regional commissioner had commanding popularity of 56 per cent, compared to Wamalwa’s 21 per cent.

However, 19 per cent of respondents that took part in the TIFA County Poll said they were still undecided on who they will vote for.

But in an opinion poll by Mizani Africa released on Friday, July 15, 2022, the Kiminini Member of Parliament is ahead, with a 51.2 per cent popularity.

Only 0.9 per cent of the respondents in the poll were undecided.

The Mizani Africa survey was conducted between 11th and 14th July 2022, with a sample size of 784, distributed proportionately to population size across 5 constituencies in Trans Nzoia County.

Mizani Africa poll released on July 15, 2022.

In the Trans Nzoia Senate seat race, while the Tifa poll indicated that Allan Chesang and former Senator Henry Ndiema were tied at 24 per cent, the Mizani Africa survey gives Chesang, a UDA candidate, a clear lead of 49.2 per cent.

Ole Ndiema hoping for a comeback using the Ford Kenya party comes second with 37.6 per cent.

Siyoi ahead in Woman Rep seat contest

Others in the race polled below 5 per cent in popularity – Joshua Werunga (4.5%), and Henry Yego (3.2%).

There are only 3 per cent undecided voters in the county, with other candidates jointly having a 2.5 per cent popularity.

However, Mizani Africa and TIFA poll both give UDA’s Lillian Siyoi a lead in the Trans Nzoia Woman Rep seat race.

Siyoi had a 35.8 per cent popularity in the Mizani poll, followed by Ford Kenya’s Susan Nakhumicha who had 29.2 per cent.

Incumbent Woman Rep Janet Nangabo comes a distant third with a popularity of 12.2 per cent.
