Billionaire businessman Bundotich Zedekiah Kiprop alias Buzeki is promising to introduce free milk program to all nursery school pupils should he be elected Uasin Gishu Governor in the August 9 poll.

The milk, he says, will be produced and packaged locally in a processing factory that will be set up by his administration.

Buzeki vying for the gubernatorial seat as an independent candidate is also pledging to revamp the dairy sector in the county.

Speaking during an interaction with locals in Chepyakwai and Jasho Farm, Kapseret Constituency, the businessman who formerly owned Molo Milk, a milk processing factory said the Uasin Gishu County’s dairy sector need a revamp.

Buzeki speaks to locals during his visit of Kapseret Constituency on June 14, 2022.

Buzeki observed that at the moment, dairy farmers in the county are faced with a lot of challenges including limited access to reliable markets, poor quality animal feeds, ineffective extension services and inadequate water for the animals.

These, and many other challenges, Buzeki says, his administration will address them should he be elected the second governor of Uasin Gishu.

The billionaire businessman noted that one of the revamp plans is to automate the sector so as to facilitate easier, reliable and faster payments.

All ECDE pupils in the county will drink milk produced here in Uasin Gishu,” Buzeki said.

Each farmer will have a special card that will be used to keep records of milk delivered to milk coolers through cooperatives. With the card, a farmer will be able to access quality feeds and related services, with the cost deducted once payments for the milk are ready,” he added.

Buzeki also promised to absorb and train the youths without proper education so that they can form the human resource that will drive the dairy industry.

He said many youths have no education because their families could not be able to afford to pay for their studies.

You don’t need papers to package milk in a carton and load to a lorry. No papers are needed to sweep a milk factory. We will employ all these uneducated young men and women, the only thing we will do is take them through basic training and some discipline,” noted the Uasin Gishu gubernatorial candidate.
