Caleb Kositany Finally Gets State Job After Missing From CAS List

A long wait for former Soy Member of Parliament Caleb Kositany to get a government appointment has finally come to an end.

Kositany is a close ally of President William Ruto and had been tipped to get a Cabinet Secretary appointment or at least a Principal Secretary.

He unsuccessfully vied for the Uasin Gishu gubernatorial seat, losing during UDA nominations.

His name was however missing when the President unveiled the list of his Cabinet nominees and PSs early this year.

With his name appearing among shortlisted candidates for the Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS), the former MP was almost assured of being among those that will make the final list but he was not among the 50 that the President nominated on March 16, 2023.

However, Ruto on March 17, 2023, named him the new board of directors chairman of the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA).

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 5(1) (a) of the Kenya Airport Authority Act, as read together with section 51 (1) of the Interpretation and General Provisions Act, I William Samoei Ruto, President and Commander in chief of the Kenya Defence Forces appoint Caleb Kipkemei Kositany,” read part of a gazette notice dated March 15, 2023.

The former Soy MP will serve for a period of three years.

Kositany who served as MP between 2017 and 2022 takes over from Isaac Awuondo, a close ally of retired President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Awuondo had been appointed to the position in 2021

The Kenya Airports Authority is the owner and operator of nine civilian airports and airstrips in Kenya.

It was established by an act of Parliament in 1992.
