Uasin Gishu Chief Officer for Clinical Services Dr Joyce Sang, together with Tapsagoi Ward Member of County Assembly, Nicholas Bittok, on Monday inspected the ongoing construction works of Turbo Sub County Hospital in Tiret, Tapsagoi Ward of Turbo Sub-County.
The inspection was to assess the progress of the construction works and ensure that the contractor is within timeframes as stipulated in the contractual agreement.
Addressing the facility committee, Dr Sang expressed her satisfaction with the progress made so far, noting that the facility is currently 25 percent complete and is expected to be fully operational within the next one and a half years.

“I want to acknowledge your cooperation and assistance in ensuring the smooth running of the construction works have been invaluable,” said the Chief Officer.
Specialized medical services
Dr Sang also noted that upon completion, the facility will provide both essential and specialized medical services to the residents, who previously had to get special attention.
“The completion of this hospital will not only improve the health outcomes of the community but also reduce the burden on existing healthcare facilities in neighbouring areas,” she added.
On his part, MCA Bittok emphasized the importance of a united effort in achieving the common goal of better healthcare provision.

Works on the project are part of efforts by the county to establish Sub County Hospitals across the devolved unit.
Similar projects are ongoing for Ziwa Sub County Hospital in Soy, Burnt Forest Sub County Hospital in Ainabkoi and Kesses Sub County Hospital in Kesses.
In the 2023/2024 County budget, Health Sector received the lion’s share of Ksh2.5 billion with funds allocated to facilitate completion of the construction works for the Sub County Hospitals.
Ksh145 million was set aside for the completion of Ziwa Level 5 and Kesses Level 4 Hospitals while Ksh96 million was allocated for the construction of the Turbo Level 4 and Moiben Level 3B hospitals.
