County Dismiss Claims It Administered Illegal Oath to Recently Graduated Inspectorate Officers

The County Government of Uasin Gishu has dismissed claims that it administered an illegal oath during the training of Inspectorate Officers and firefighters that recently graduated.

Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno says the claims are malicious and meant to cause fear among locals.

In a media briefing at the Uasin Gishu County headquarters in Eldoret town on Friday, June 17, 2022, Chemno also dismissed reports that Emurua Dikir Member of Parliament Johana Ng’eno was involved in the alleged oath-taking exercise.

Chemno with County Secretary Edwin Bett and Environment CECM Mary Njogu addressing the press at county headquarters in Eldoret town on June 17, 2022.

Saying Ng’eno went to Chebororwa to administer an oath for the youths to cause chaos is a pure lie. The government is all over, nobody can administer such an oath and fail to be arrested,” the deputy governor told Journalists.

Uasin Gishu gubernatorial candidate on an independent ticket Bundotich Zedekiah Buzeki claimed the training was for a militia, and not Inspectorate Officers and firefighters as stated by Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago.

Mandago on June 15, 2022, preceded over a pass-out parade ceremony of 32 firefighters and 95 inspectorate officers at Chebororwa Agricultural Training College.

We know Johana Ng’eno went to Chebororwa, and what happened. He (Mandago) should not cheat us that he went there to oversee a pass-out parade of enforcement officers and firefighters. We know what they are doing and we won’t allow it, we are asking the government to be on the alert,” Buzeki said during a campaign rally in Turbo Sub County.

Mandago has since recorded a statement with the police over the claims, and his deputy insists Uasin Gishu leaders would be the last ones to plan violence.

There is no way we as a county can plan chaos. We understand the importance of peace which has enabled us to get investors now making this town grow fast,” Chemno said.

The deputy county boss also hit out at the Uasin Gishu security team for failing to take action against some politicians, including Buzeki whom he accuses of spreading incitement and spreading hate speech.
