Uasin Gishu County Executive Committee Member for Health Services, Dr Abraham Serem on Tuesday morning hosted officials from ELSMED Healthcare Solutions to discuss and brief on the partnership and review the memorandum of understanding.
The meeting also sought to explore more opportunities for collaboration.
Dr Serem noted that the partnership will see the provision of state-of-the-art laboratory equipment which will enable the County’s health facilities to conduct a wide range of diagnostic tests with accuracy and efficiency therefore greatly improving the speed of diagnosis, leading to better treatment outcomes for patients.
He further noted that Governor Bii’s administration aims to improve the diagnostics of specialized services by use of drones which will pick samples and deliver them to the reference laboratory at Huruma Sub County Hospital within the shortest time.

Clinical Services Chief Officer Dr Joyce Sang noted that access to these advanced diagnostic tools would enable the County’s health facilities to offer a wider range of services and improve the quality of care and response provided to patients.
Inventory management
On his part, Promotive and Preventive Health Chief Officer Dr Paul Wangwe said that effective inventory management is crucial for ensuring that healthcare facilities have the necessary resources at all times therefore facilitating the monitoring and management of medical supplies and equipment.
ELSMED, a renowned healthcare solutions provider entered into a Ksh425 million MoU with Uasin Gishu County in January 2023.

The partnership would see the Israeli company support the County’s health services by providing laboratory equipment, a Lab Information System (LIS), an Inventory Manager, and diagnostic equipment thus enhancing the County’s ability to offer specialized services and improve healthcare outcomes for its residents.
