The County Government of Uasin Gishu on January 11, 2023, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ElsMed Healthcare Solutions from Israel.
The MoU seeks to boost healthcare services across the county facilities through an injection of Ksh427 million to finance health-related projects for a period of 10 years.
Speaking after signing the MOU, Governor Jonathan Bii said the partnership will cover Turnkey laboratory diagnostic solutions systems, medical information technologies and infrastructure services, diabetes as well as a hypertension treatment centre of excellence and a drone support system.

He further said that the partnership is a result of the last year’s visit by Israel’s ambassador to Kenya Michael Lotem where ElsMed agreed to maintain the equipment services or replace them when obsolete.
The company will also provide consumables, reagents and other requirements at an affordable price to the county.
“The County shall reinvent the finances generated by the project through the facility improvement of fund bill, which will ensure there is prompt payment of consumables and shall be managed by the PFM ACT 2015,” said Bii.
Digital transformation
Deputy Governor Eng. John Barorot noted that the milestone is in line with Governor Bii’s Nguzo Kumi manifesto on improving health services.
He noted that the partnership will see Uasin Gishu District Hospital (UGDH) receive most of the sophisticated equipment hence enhancing the digital transformation.
Further, the DG said that this will help them monitor the drugs in the facilities and taking services closer to mwananchi as the project will also be extended to 23 other facilities in the County and the North Rift Economic Block (NOREB) region.
“We will be using drones to collect samples whenever sophisticated diagnostic equipment is required using the IT format,” said Eng Barorot.
On his part, ElsMed Chief Executive Officer Yaron Farachi noted that the partnership portrays a symbol of saving lives by giving people hope.
He noted that residents will get diagnostics with ease because they have the best technologies for responding to health complications.
