Evans Kipruto Kapkea is finally set to be sworn in as the third Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor.
Kapkea was nominated to fill the vacant position left by the resignation of Eng John Barorot about two months ago.
He was vetted and approved by the Uasin Gishu County Assembly but his swearing delayed by lack of a fully constituted Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
The delay forced the county to move to the High Court which ordered that Kapkea’s appointment be gazetted by IEBC.
When will Evans Kapkea be sworn in?
It’s is based on this High Court decision that the County Secretary Edwin Bett has gazetted November 14, 2024 as the day the new DG will take oath of office.
“It is notified for the information of the general public that pursuant to the provisions of Article 74 of the Constitution of Kenya, section 32D of the County Government Act, 2012, sections 11 (1) and 16 (1) of the Assumption of the Office of the Governor Act, 2019 and judgement of the High Court of Kenya at Eldoret, the swearing in ceremony of Evans Kipruto Kapkea ss the Deputy Governor of Uasin Gishu, shall be held on Thursday, 14th November 2024,” read part of the notice seen by Uasin Gishu News.
The notice is dated October 31, 2024.
The swearing in will take place at the Uasin Gishu County Headquarters starting at 10.15 am.

Before his nomination, Kapkea was serving as the Tembelio Member of County Assembly.
