DCI Boss Asked Take Over Probe into Forgery Claims Facing Eldoret Muslim Association

A Muslim leader in Eldoret has written to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations seeking his intervention in a probe over an alleged forgery of an association’s registration certificate.

The move by Jamal Diriwo Omar follows what he claims is inaction by the Eldoret DCI officers in handling the matter.

In a letter to the DCI boss, Mohammed Amin, Omari notes that no action has been taken since he formally lodged a complaint at the Eldoret West DCI offices and subsequently recorded statements on September 16, 2024.

I feel like the officers might be compromised since they have not summoned individuals I have complained against,” he told Uasin Gishu News on Saturday, December 21, 2024.

When I wrote a statement, they told me all those named would be summoned but to date, nothing has happened. This is the reason I have decided to request the DCI boss to take over this matter and assign officers from Nairobi to handle the case,” he added.

According to a letter seen by Uasin Gishu News, Jamal, a member of the Muslim community in Eldoret wants a speedy probe into the matter, and culprits arrested and prosecuted.

He argues that the issue has already been forwarded to the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commision which noted that it ought to be prosecuted before a court of law by the DCI.

Kindly we request for immediate action and according to the constitution of this nation and culprits be arrested, record their statements and be taken to a court of law,” he says in part of the letter.

The Muslim member argues that the said officials, currently running the Eldoret Muslim Mosque Committee based on a forged registration certificate should face charges related to embezzlement of funds and misappropriation of properties belonging to the association.

He accuses them of running a different entity under the name Muslim Association Mosque Committee, that deliberately omits the name – Eldoret – as per the original certificate.

The association owns properties running into billions of shillings within Eldoret city.

Already the Registrar of Societies has confirmed that there is no entity under the said name that exists – apart from the originally and duly registered Muslim Association Mosque Committee, Eldoret.
