Deputy President William Ruto will this Friday be pitching camp in his home county – Uasin Gishu, as he seeks to solidify his support base.
An itinerary shared by a number of politicians allied to the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party in the county indicates that the DP will be accompanied by his running mate Rigathi Gachagua as well as other Kenya Kwanza-allied party leaders.
They include Musalia Mudavadi of ANC, Ford Kenya’s Moses Wetangula, former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo (Tujibebe Party), Moses Kuria (Chama cha Kazi), and Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua among others.
During the visit, the DP and his team are expected to address at least six political rallies across various areas in the country.
The visit will kick off at Chembulet, then Moiben Centre before heading to Ziwa.
They will later address locals at Maili Nne on the outskirts of Eldoret town before heading to Matharu.
The tour will end at Kesses.
This is the first time in his presidential campaigns that DP Ruto will be addressing multiple rallies in his home county.
He was in Langas estate over the weekend, to attend a church service, after which he addressed locals at Corner – where he rallied voters to support UDA candidates.
The Kenya Kwanza team led by the Mathira Member of Parliament has this week pitched camp in the North Rift, gracing economic forums in Uasin Gishu, Nandi, Baringo, and Elgeyo Markwet counties.
It will be climaxing their tour will the six political rallies that are expected to be used to rally voters to support UDA candidates – with a number of aspirants having opted to vie as independent candidates.
Being home to the DP who is a presidential candidate, UDA will want nothing less than having its candidates floored in the August 9 polls.
There is a gubernatorial, Senate, and five out of six parliamentary seat politicians vying as independent candidates, and who are posing a real threat to UDA candidates in Uasin Gishu.
