DP Ruto, Raila Popularity Rating In Each of 47 Counties Revealed In Latest Opinion Poll

Mizani Africa on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, released their second pre-election national opinion survey on the popularity of presidential candidates.

The survey showed that the popularity of the two leading contenders – Deputy President William Ruto and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga was almost equal, with a difference of only 0.1 percent.

DP Ruto was polled as the most popular presidential candidate commanding the highest rating with 47.0 percent while Raila came closely in second place with 46.9 percent.

The survey was conducted between the 18th and 29th April 2022 through telephonic interviews among respondents distributed proportionately to the population size across 47 counties in Kenya.

William Ruto commands a serious lead in two regions: Mt. Kenya (76.3%) and Rift Valley (64.4%).

Raila Odinga commands a lead in six regions: Nyanza(76.3%), Lower Eastern (75.1%), North Eastern (57.2%), Western (56.3%), Coast (56.2%) and Nairobi (51.6%).

DP Ruto leads in 22 counties in popularity per county and has over 80 percent popularity rating in Nandi, Kericho, Embu, Kirinyaga, and Tharaka Nithi.

Raila has a higher popularity rating in 24 counties, and polled over 80 percent in Siaya, Migori, and Kisumu, while in Homabay he has a popularity of 90.6 percent.
