Normal activities at Shauri Trading Centre in Huruma Ward on the outskirts of Eldoret town were on Friday disrupted for several hours.
This is after a swarm of bees invaded several shops at the busy trading centre.
Matatu operators were also attacked by the bees whose source could not be immediately established.
The incident left locals and traders scampering for safety.
However, the Uasin Gishu County fire brigade moved swiftly to eradicate the swarm of bees that was causing havoc to members of the public.

According to the Uasin Gishu Chief Fire Officer David Wanyama Sitati, the bees attacked several shop owners and matatu operators at the Shauri shopping centre.
“I am urging people not to disturb bees when attacked but instead report to us for quick intervention because bees are dangerous and can kill,” Sitati advised.
The firefighters trapped the bees in a special bag after they had settled down in one corner of the shops where they invaded.
Once the bees were contained, the residents and commuters at a nearby matatu stage narrated how they had to flee for safety when the swarm invaded the area.
