Eldoret City Ready To Implement Kenya Urban Support Program Projects

The City of Eldoret is putting measures in place as it readies to implement more projects under the Kenya Urban Support Program (KUSP).

Kenya’s newest city has been one of the biggest beneficiaries of donor grants, owing to its position as the North Rift’s economic hub and a key gateway to the East African Community.

Speaking during a consultative meeting of the KUSP II National Project Coordination team in Eldoret, City Manager Elseba Busienei reiterated that the city understands and appreciates the need for projects to meet the highest standards.

It is always our agenda and commitment to ensure that projects are implemented to the best standards for the benefit of the people of Eldoret and Kenya as a whole,” she said.

She added that, as the city engages in consultative meetings ahead of the next phase of funding, it remains committed to timely submission of reports and full compliance with all requirements to secure maximum funding.

County Secretary Philip Meli emphasized the importance of sound financial management and close supervision of projects.

Deputy Speaker Sarah Malel said the legislature is working closely with the executive for the betterment of the people of Uasin Gishu. Nicodemus Mbwika from the Council of Governors, was the facilitator of the report on projects implementation.

The meeting was also attended by County Executive Committee Members for Lands and Urban Development Edward Sawe, Finance Executive Micah Rogony, Chief Officer for Urban Development Mary Kerich, County Attorney Sylvester Metto, directors, as well as city and county staff.
