Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii on Thursday, October 24, 2024, welcomed representatives from the Jospong Group of Companies to the City of Eldoret.
The group was in the city to conduct feasibility study for a potential partnership on solid waste management.
“We are glad to have you in Eldoret City to study what we do on solid waste management and partner with us to integrate best practices applied across the continent” said Governor Bii.
He also urged the group to harness modern technology to offer sustainable solutions towards transforming solid wastes into an economically viable venture.
The meeting was underpinned by a presentation from the Jospong Group’s Team leader, who shared insights on best practices in solid waste management across Africa.
In the presentation, he emphasized sustainable solutions and innovative strategies for improving waste handling, disposal, and recycling within urban environments.
Additionally, the Eldoret City Manager, Tito Koiyet, provided a detailed report on the current status of solid waste management in the City.
His presentation covered critical data, including a breakdown of waste characterization and the city’s average annual waste quantities, giving a clear picture of the county’s waste challenges and opportunities.
The collaboration between Eldoret and Jospong Group holds great promise for enhancing waste management practices, ensuring a cleaner as well as a more sustainable future for the city as per Governor Bii’s Nguzo kumi manifesto on clean City.
