A group of youth from Eldoret town has expressed calls for more efforts to be put in place to address increased drug abuse in society.
The Champions Creative Hub – a youth-led Community Based Organization is also concerned over mental health challenges among the young.
But in a bid to address the two issues, the group recently hosted a concert at Munyaka Estate that sought to sensitize the youth on the effects of drug abuse and advocate for mental health.

Kevin Kioko, a leader of the CBO notes that they have been holding similar events during the festive season for the last five years.
The initiative has since had several positive impacts on society.
“We have been able to transform youths who were on drugs. They are now reformed. We have also received positive feedback from the community on how crime rate and mental health issues have been reducing,” Kioko said.
Similar sentiments were shared by Priscila Wanjiru.

Wanjiru notes that with their advocacy initiative, the youth and members of the society are now able to address mental health issues better.
The concert was attended by hundreds of local youths and several upcoming artists.
Aside from concerts, the Champions Creative Hub has also been holding sensitization events at select schools – all meant to help the young know the effects of drug abuse and mental health.
