Mental health in Kenya is a significant public health issue, marked by high rates of depression and substance use, and a substantial burden of disease on the population.

Key challenges include a lack of trained mental health professionals, limited access to services, and widespread stigma.

To address this, Kenya has developed a Mental Health Policy and an Action Plan, and is focusing on integrating mental health into primary care and improving human rights protections in its legal framework.
