The Department of Education in Elgeyo Marakwet County has launched the Digital Personalised Learning (DPL) program.
The groundbreaking initiative aims to enhance digital literacy in early learning across the county.
According to Education County Executive Committee Member Purity Koima, the program will see at least 20,000 ECDE learners benefiting.

“This transformative program will impact 50% of all ECDE centres in the county—264 schools, benefiting over 20,000 young learners,” Koima said.
The rollout of the DPL program follows the successful pilot process in Kapchemutwa and Cherang’any/Chebororwa wards.
Benefits of digital literacy program
While piloting the initiative, the county executive noted that it helped improve learning outcomes, increased learner participation and reduced absenteeism.
In addition, the program encouraged parental involvement and enhanced teacher management.
It also proved to be cost-effective compared to traditional learning.
With the launch of the DPL program, 528 teachers will now undergo training at ward levels to ensure smooth implementation.

This comes after initial training of one teacher from each of the 20 wards who will now serve as trainers and quality assurance officers.
The program is being implemented in partnership with EIDU, an organisation that provides gadgets, software, and technical support.
“This is more than just a program—it’s a step toward equipping our children with the skills they need to succeed in a digital world. Together, we are transforming education and empowering the next generation,” the CECM said.
