Elgeyo Marakwet County Increases ECDE Teachers’ Salary

The County Government of Elgeyo Marakwet has announced that it will implement the second phase of salary increments for ECDE teachers beginning this January.

ECDE infrastructural development across the county are also set for improvement.

Governor Wisely Rotich said he was impressed by the strides made in rolling out digital learning programs across ECDE Centres in the County.

We have started the journey to make our EMC children to compete with the globe through digital learning where we make learning interesting by using digital ways to dispense knowledge to our future generation,” said the Governor

Training of some 281 ECDE teachers drawn from all the 20 wards is ongoing and thereafter will be issued gadgets with already loaded content.

The remaining 247 schools, the Governor said, will have the program rolled out in July 2025.

Phase two of salary increment for our ECDE teachers will be implemented this month while we continue to also improve infrastructure,” said the County boss.

We appreciate our ECDE teachers for their commitment and hard work towards ensuring quality education for our children,” added the governor who also commended the departmental staff led by the CECM.

The governor is the current chairperson ICT committee at the Council of Governors (CoG).

The move comes days after Elgeyo Marakwet County launched a Digital Personalised Learning (DPL) program, a groundbreaking initiative that aims to enhance digital literacy in early learning across the county.

Under the initiaitve, at least 20,000 ECDE learners in the county will benefit.
