Elgeyo Marakwet to Get Groundnuts Processing Factory

The County Government of Elgeyo Marakwet will soon launch the construction of a groundnut processing factory within the county.

The project is implemented by Sustainable Urban Economic Development (SUED), a program funded by the United Kingdom Government, which supports Infrastructural Development and Value Chain Projects, including technical support across the program’s implementation period.

Iten is one of the 12 Municipalities in the Country approved to benefit from the SUED’s Sustainable Economic Plans and Infrastructure Value Chain Projects.

This is the 2nd project in the County after the Potato Value Chain,  a program which has already acquired 15 acres of land at Kapchemutwo Ward for the establishment of a Potatoes Processing Factory.

Kingori Erick and Kung’u Joseph were in the County to deliver good news following Governor Wesley Rotich’s request to establish a Groundnuts Processing Factory.

County Executive Committee Member (CECM) Thomas Maiyo appreciated the team on behalf of the county boss and assured them of the County Government’s commitment and support for the upcoming life-changing investments.

Present were the Chief Officer of Lands, Emmanuel Birir and Iten Municipality Manager Felix Kirongo.
