The Principal Secretary of the Ministry of Youths and Digital Economy Jacob Fikirini, has encouraged youths in Elgeyo Marakwet County to take advantage of government programs under the Kenya Kwanza administration.
Speaking at the Youth Mentorship Program in Chepsirei, Fikirini emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring that youths access government incentives.
The PS also urged youths to acquire skills in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) to enhance their employability.

He further said the government was keen in initiatives like the Youth Entrepreneurship Investment Bank (YEIB) and the Uwezo Fund aim to support youth entrepreneurship and employment.
The government recently announced plans to employ over 113,000 youths and revamp the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement Project (NYOTA) programme to enhance employability and promote financial literacy.
NYOTA is a five-year Kenyan government initiative, supported by the World Bank, designed to empower vulnerable youth by increasing employment, improving income generation, bridging skills gaps, and fostering a culture of saving.

Meanwhile, Elgeyo Marakwet Deputy Governor Prof Grace Cheserek said that by leveraging on the government programs, youths in the county can acquire skills, access job opportunities, and develop their entrepreneurial capabilities.
