First Choice Recruitment and Consultancy Agency has temporarily closed its offices in Eldoret town.
The agency that recruits locals seeking jobs in the middle east and other European countries says the decision to close its offices in Eldoret has been informed by continuous demonstrations against them.
Over the last few weeks, a number of locals claiming to have been conned by the agency have been camping at the Eldoret offices demanding a refund of the money.
A majority of those that have been seeking a refund, claim they were to travel to Qatar for jobs during the upcoming World Cup, but with just weeks to the event, no communication has been issued.

Some of the victims that Uasin Gishu News spoke to claim they paid up to Ksh40,000 to secure jobs in Qatar which never came to pass.
But with the locals camping at the gates of the offices located at City Plaza, at times turning rowdy, the First Choice Recruitment and Consultancy Agency now says its physical office remains closed.
In a notice at the offices’ gates, the agency said the office will be closed beginning October 19, 2022, to December 1, 2022.
“We are sorry to let you know that we have closed our physical office as from 19th October 2022 to 1st December 2022. This is due to the inconveniences caused by the continuous demonstrations, threat of life and destruction o property,” read part of the notice.

However, the agency says the interviews and the deployment process are ongoing.
Legit business
While there have been claims of the agency conning its clients, the director Judy Jepchirchir in a past interview with the media insisted they were legit.
She claimed they had connected thousands of locals to jobs abroad and assured that all that had paid to travel to Qatar will be there before the World Cup starts.
“The agency has so far taken over 7,000 Kenyan youths currently working in Qatar while others to Poland and Canada,” Jepchirchr said.

“The delays of deployment being witnessed currently under the three months program for the Fifa World Cup in Qatar 2022 is due to delay in visa processing which is fully the responsibility of the Qatar government and not us,” she added.
It remains to be seen if the agency will keep the promise and quell customers that have been up in arms over being fleeced their money.
