Notorious Highway Robber Nabbed In Ongoing ‘Operation Komesha Uhalifu North Rift’

An ongoing operation seeking to end insecurity in the North Rift region continues to register positive progress.

The operation dubbed ‘Operation Komesha Uhalifu North Rift’ that was launched over a month ago following an attack that killed 11 people, including 8 police officers in Turkana East has now seen a notorious robber arrested.

According to a statement by the National Police Service (NPS), the robber was nabbed following a tip-off from members of the public.

NPS has since identified the robber as Gideon Emojong Angelo whom they accuse of being behind numerous bandit attacks in the Lorogon area.

He has also been linked to a recent incident that saw camels stolen.

Earlier today, a team of multi-agency security personnel from ‘Operation Komesha Uhalifu North Rift’ acting on a tip off, nabbed a notorious highway robber accused of a spate of criminal activities linked to banditry attacks and highway robberies in lorogon area, Turkana County,” the National Police Service said in a post on its official Twitter handle.

Gedion Emojong Angelo is also suspected to be the mastermind behind the theft of camels earlier this month in Kalemorok within Logoron area in Turkana East Sub-County,” the police added.

Following the arrest of the robbery suspect, police say he is being detained at the Kainuk Police station.

The police further appreciated members of the public for their continued cooperation and collaboration in the ongoing efforts aimed at ending crimes and arresting the culprits.
