Former Nandi County Woman Member of Parliament Zipporah Kering has received a boost in her political lifeline.
This is after legislators allied to the Kenya Kwanza coalition voted to support her candidature for the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA).
Kering who unsuccessfully vied for the Emgwen Member of Parliament (MP) seat in the recently concluded election was among the five candidates that made the final list.
She was listed alongside former Mombasa gubernatorial candidate Hassan Omar and former nominated MP David Ole Sankok. Fred Muteti and Falhada Dekow Iman are other individuals also on the final list.

The Kenya Kwanza coalition had been allocated five of the 9 slots available for Kenya at EALA.
There were 15 individuals that had been nominated within the Kenya Kwanza coalition, but with Wednesday’s voting, it simply means it remains for the National Assembly to give the nod to the Parliamentary group meeting.
Already a number of legislators have congratulated Zipporah Kering for her impending nomination to EALA.
“Congratulations Hon. Zipporah Kering on your nomination to join East Africa Legislative Assembly (EALA) under the UDA party. Your hard work has finally paid off,” Kesses MP CPA Julius Ruto posted on his Facebook page.
“I wish to extend my warmest congratulations to the rest of UDA nominees, Hassan Omar, David Ole Sankok, Fred Muteti and Falhada Dekow Iman for their deserved Nominations, Go serve well,” he added.
Support Ruto’s campaigns
After failing to win the Emgwen MP UDA ticket in the nominations, Kering agreed to support the winner and was actively involved in the Kenya Kwanza presidential campaigns.

But in his recent interview on Citizen TV, the former Nandi County Woman MP said her nomination was based on loyalty to the coalition.
“Let me say that loyalty pays, everyone played their role well during the campaigns, some used their money to make sure the elections were won,” she said.
Kering further argues that the EALA nomination will help in the continuation of her political career.
“I knew that the government has many positions, that’s why I held on to the EALA position, and continue with my political career,” she noted.
