Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya is now demanding for an apology and retraction of what he considers defamatory remarks that were recently made by Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichungw’ah against him.
In a letter to the National Assembly leader of the majority, Natembeya through Oringe Waswa and Opany Advocates wants the apology made public through three known national daily newspapers.
“A retraction and apology should be published in the next issue of The Nation, Standard and Star Newspapers in the words approved by us in a bid to mitigate enormous damage caused to our client,” red part of the letter seen by Uasin Gishu News.
The two-paged letter dated January 6, 2025 further demands that the apology should be commensurate to the statements made by Ichungwa.

The legislator accused Natembeya of being behind cases of abductions and murders during the retired President Uhuru Kenyatta’s regime.
However, the former Rift Valley regional commissioner insists he quit the job to join politics while with clean hands.
He warned that should Ichungw’ah fail to apologise and retract the statement within three days, he will institute legal actions against him.
“The words meant and were understood that our client is murderer, unethical, unprofessional, and dismal public servant who was in charge of killing Kenyans and dumping in River Yala,” said part of the letter.
“The allegations against our client have had and continue to exert devastating effects on our client’s reputation, credibility, integrity, moral, societal and professional standing,” it added.
When did Ichungw’ah attack Natembeya
Ichungw’ah made the remarks in response to Natembeya’s call for an end to abductions that the country witnessed recently.
He spoke during the burial of National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula’s mother.
President William Ruto was also present at the event.
