The County Government of Trans Nzoia now has a new County Executive Committee Member for Roads and Public Works
This is after a Kitale based lawyer was sworn into office.
Gideon Barongo, an advocate of the High Court of Kenya, took the oath of office on Wednesday, December 17, 2025.
He was nominated by Governor George Natembeya after the Members of the Trans Nzoia County Assembly (MCAs) declined to approve Zablon Obiri for the position due to lack of a university degree.

Barongo holds a Bachelor of Laws degree and a Postgraduate Diploma from the Kenya School of Law.
Who are members of Trans Nzoia County Public Service selection panel?
The county government also appointed a five-member panel to oversee the recruitment of members of the County Public Service Board.
The panel is chaired by Col. Tom Wanambisi, who was sworn in on Wednesday alongside members.
Other members are Eng. Samson Akute, Anne Adera, CPA Miriam Ndiema, and Denis Wanyama.
The panel had earlier been vetted and approved by the County Assembly after being nominated by Governor Natembeya.

It will serve for a period of sixty days starting December 17, 2025.
This comes as the term of the current Public Service Board comes to an end in February.
The outgoing members are Peter Wamoto, the chairperson, Rosemary Wanaswa, the vice chairperson, Samuel Warui, Edward Kipyego Kitur, Elymarita Khaoya, and Dr. Sylvester Wanyama Macton.
The new panel is expected to advertise the positions, publish a list of applicants, shortlist candidates, and submit the names of successful candidates to the governor for appointment.
Governor Natembeya urged the panel to move with speed while maintaining integrity.
He asked the members to conduct background checks on all candidates and ensure that at least seventy percent of those appointed come from Trans Nzoia County.
He said priority should be given to people who love the county and are committed to serving it.
The positions of Public Service Board members are considered lucrative. The board operates independently, and the positions are equivalent to those of County Executive Committee Members.
Upon appointment, the members of the board are expected to work for a non-renewal term of six years.
