Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim has affirmed his administration’s commitment to continue engaging with the manufacturing sector.
Bii says the sector plays a key role in the creation of employment, especially for the youth.
To ensure more jobs are created in the industry, the county boss said his administration will continue with engagements with the sector, a move he hopes will also elevate Eldoret town as a manufacturing hub.
He made the comments on Wednesday during an engagement with the Kenya Association of Manufactures (KAM) North Rift region.
The engagement was on among other deliberations, the betterment of their services and the enhancement of a conducive environment for business.

In his address, the Governor affirmed his support for the sector’s growth, challenging them to be the most utilizers of the upcoming County Aggregation Industrial Park (CAIP).
“With the establishment of CAIP, we are going to revolutionize agriculture to create a robust economy of our county and as well capitalise on its potential of employing thousands of youths,” noted Governor Bii.
Good environment for business
In addition, the county head hinted at an already existing collaborative mechanism with Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) on general infrastructural development of the town among them management of drainage in Eldoret town further necessitates a good environment for business.
Moreover, Deputy Governor, Eng John Barorot, urged the manufacturers to invest in the CAIP, noting that the county focus will be more on agriculture in a program that also seeks to have the youth take up farming initiatives.

Count Executive Committee Member for Trade, Industrialization, Tourism, Cooperatives and Enterprise Development, Martha Cheruto, appreciated KAM for their collaboration with her docket in improving and growing businesses adding that “It is work in progress and continuous engagement to see the industrial sector blossom.”
On his part, KAM chair William Ong’are lauded the county administration for installing security lights in some of the industries which has continued to build investor confidence in doing business in the county.
He also pledged to marshall his team to take advantage of the business potential that comes along with Eldoret International Airport, even as the County roots for more flights to be directed to the airport to expand trade.
“We will create linkages between agricultural importing industries and the farmers to utilize the products available,” said Ong’are.
