Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has said the county will review the employment terms of newly hired health officers.
The county government, he said, will change their contracts from one year into permanent positions.
Speaking on Monday, March 16, 2026, during the issuance of appointment letters to the oficers, the governor said his office would engage with County Public Service board and his cabinet to facilitate the change.
“I will discuss with the board so that we can make the changes,” Natembeya said.

The governor however warned the nurses against engaging in corruption.
“The health sector is not about employment but the services delivered to the people. We employed you because you were suitable for the job. If I discover that anyone paid the board to be considered, I will ensure you are dismissed and taken to court to face the law,” he warned.
Natembeya also emphasized the need to prioritize employment opportunities for residents of Trans Nzoia County by the new Public Service Board.
He expressed concern over the low number of local recruits among newly hired nurses.
