Access to cancer screening and treatment within Uasin Gishu County has received a shot in the arm.
This is after the county received eight Thermo Ablators from the National Cancer Control Program.
The county also received 11 Fetal Dopplers from Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine which will enhance reproductive health.
While receiving the medical equipment from the donors, County Chief Officer for Preventive and Promotive Health Joyce Sang said they will go a long way to improving service delivery.

“We can kick out cancer through screening because you can not treat what you have not diagnosed, ” Sang said.
Healthy manpower
The CO further noted that the department was working on enhancing the health sector that will ensure the county has a healthy manpower to spur economic growth.
Thermo Ablators were later distributed to Kipkabus Health Centre, Burnt Forest Sub County Hospital, Pioneer Health Centre and Kesses Hospital while Kapsoya Dispensary, Kapteldon Sub County Hospital and West Maternity Hospital benefited from the Fetal Dopplers.
Later in the day, the Chief Officer toured Chepkero, Chepyakwai/Kaplelach and Ngara Falls dispensaries.
The visit was to evaluate the condition of the health facilities as far as affordable and adequate health service delivery is concerned.

Speaking during the exercise, Sang hinted at the department’s plans to drill boreholes to secure an adequate supply of water and proper hygiene in health facilities across the county.
Further, she encouraged the facilities officers in charge to ensure prior orders of medical equipment such as drugs to avoid shortages in the hospitals.
She also called on the medical practitioners to observe time management so that the residents can get timely services within their reach and refferal cases which can be handled at the facility.
