A fire at Hongui Investment Limited, a timber processing company located in Kapseret Sub County on Thursday caused millions of shillings in damage.
Firefighters from the Uasin Gishu County Government responded on time and helped stop the fire from spreading to other sections of the company.

Uasin Gishu County Executive for Roads, Transport and Public Works Eng. Joseph Lagat visited the Company and assisted in coordinating efforts to put out the fire.
He said the damage could have been worse had the firefighters not arrived on time.
“The fire was spreading very fast, causing a lot of fear it would have caused more damage. The firefighters have managed to contain it,” Eng Lagat noted.

Hongui Investment Limited company manager Moses Bett said the fire destroyed the section where wood waste is kept before it’s sorted out and graded for recycling to make other valuable products.
“It was a large fire. We called in assistance from the county government to assist us. The cause of the fire will be known later after a police investigation,” Bett said.
The Company is owned by one of the new international investors in Eldoret.
It has over 200 workers.
