How Expansion of Road Network in Eldoret Is Attracting Construction of Modern Residential Buildings

/

Since the onset of the devolved system of governance in the country in 2013, the County Government of Uasin Gishu through the Department of Roads has been keen on expanding the road network by opening new roads as well as maintaining and improving the existing ones.

These efforts have since seen Eldoret town witness a facelift with newly tarmacked roads, even as it gears up to the City status.

Areas far from the town are also feeling the positive effect of the improved road network.

New residential houses and homes in Kapseret Sub-County, 15 kilometers away from the Eldoret CBD, are now coming up with land buyers getting attracted to many areas that are becoming residential places for urban residents and new shopping centers being developed.

A visit to Kipkenyo and Kapseret wards revealed a new picture of the current situation of new and modern buildings within the area, which initially had few locals before the devolved unit came into place.

This is even as residents of Simat/Kapseret Ward in Kapseret Sub County expressed satisfaction with the speed at which roads projects for the Financial Year 2021/22 are being implemented in their area.

Led by the Chairman of Kapseret Roads Improvement Projects Ezekiel Saina, the residents said many of the ongoing projects were recently handed over to the contractors but have moved quickly.

We are impressed with the speed at which the road projects are being implemented in this area and the staff from the county have been coming frequently for inspection,” said Saina.

Some of the completed projects include Biashara Street-Kimoson road, Sarora road, Gimnyigei-Amakori road, Chabarus road, Kosyin road, Tachasis/Kapng’etuny road, and Yamumbi junction-west farmers road in Kipkenyo ward. They also inspected ongoing works for the Borderlands -Chelalbal Box Culvert and Kamosong Box Culvert in Kapseret ward.

Another area that has seen significant improvement in Kapseret Sub County is the Kipkaren estate where roads were tarmacked and drainage maintained.
