The government is set to start construction of a fifth affordable housing project in Uasin Gishu County.
Construction works are ongoing in four locations within Eldoret city.
The five are Pioneer, Kimumu, Kidiwa and Railways.
Most of the projects are at an advanced stage.
As plans to hand over the ready units in Eldoret, a third project is now in the pipeline.
Where will Kesses affordable housing project be?
On Tuesday, January 27, 2025, the Ministry of Housing advertised a tender for the Saroiyoit Affordable Housing Project in Kesses Sub-County.
Area Member of Parliament CPA Julius Ruto welcomed the project which he said will not only create jobs for the local youths but also ensure dignified living.

Ruto further said the affordable housing project has transformed lives across the country.
“Good news for Kesses and the larger Uasin Gishu County. The tender for the construction of affordable housing units at Saroiyoit by the Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development is now open,” the MP said.
“This project aligns with our commitment to decent housing, job creation, and dignified living for our people. I commend H.E. President William Samoei Ruto for his steadfast support of the Affordable Housing Programme that continues to transform lives across the country,” he added.
As of January 2026, President William Ruto said there are over 240,000 affordable housing units under construction nationwide.

These projects are part of the Kenya Kwanza administration’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
The projects have generated over 500,000 jobs for youth and women and around 800 contractors are involved.
The government aims to construct 200,000 affordable housing units annually with the program designed to deliver a total of 1 million houses by 2027.
