A section of First Choice Recruitment and Consultancy Agency job applicants have been left stranded after their Eldoret office was closed without notice.
The applicants and the agency management have since last month been on bad terms over claims they had been defrauded of their cash.
Speaking at the agency’s offices on October 21, 2022, one of the applicants, Cornelius Misoi, expressed his disappointment stating that he had paid Ksh40,000 and submitted his passport to secure a chance to go to Qatar.
However, he says the agency management has been postponing his departure from the country.

“The agency management used to play tricks on me every time I go to their office until today I was disappointed to find out that they have closed until 1st December,” said Misoi.
Another recruitment agency
Some of the applicants that had visited the office on Friday further alleged that they have found other agencies that are committed to fulfilling their desire to work abroad.
They are now demanding their funds and passports back from the Choice Recruitment and Consultancy Agency.
“I have found another agency which secures opportunities for youths abroad and what I want is that the First Choice Agency pays back my money and gives me my passport so that I can explore the other opportunity,” noted one of the applicants.
A section of parents of the applicants also expressed their disgust with the abrupt closure of the office stating that they had come from as far as Nakuru to collect the passports of their children only to be disappointed.

“I came to collect the passport of my child only to notice that the office has been closed. I wanted the passport for my daughter to try another agency which is committed to fulfilling their promise,” said a woman who requested not to be identified by name.
Choice Recruitment and Consultancy Agency closed their Eldoret offices on October 19, 2022, citing frequent demonstrations, threats to life and destruction of properties as the major cause.
A notice at the agency’s entrance indicates that they will remain closed until December 1, 2022.
